Ms. Noonan is a columnist for the Wall Street Journal where her column, Declarations, has run each week for the past thirteen years. She is the author of eight books on American politics, history, and culture, including the best sellers What I Saw at the Revolution, John Paul the Great, and When Character Was King. She was a special assistant and speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan, working with him on such speeches as the Challenger speech and the president’s remarks at Point du Hoc, France, on the 40th anniversary of D-Day.
Ms. Noonan has been a teaching fellow at the Institute of Politics at Harvard University and a professor in Yale University’s Grand Strategies course. She is a member of the board of trustees of the Ronald Reagan Foundation, which oversees the Reagan Library.
In recent years, Ms. Noonan has received the Columnist of the Year award by The Week magazine; the New York Women in Communications Award of Excellence; the Union League Club’s Abraham Lincoln Literary Award; the Bicentennial Medal of Mt. St Mary’s University; and the journalism award bestowed each year by the living recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Before entering the Reagan White House, Ms. Noonan was a producer at CBS News in New York. She holds honorary doctorates from the University of Portland, Miami University, St. Francis College, St. John Fisher College, Ave Maria University, Adelphi University, and, her alma mater, Fairleigh Dickinson University.
