Bill Hemmer

Mr. Hemmer joined Fox News Channel (FNC) in August of 2005 and is currently a co-host of FNC’s America’s Newsroom.

At FNC, Mr. Hemmer has covered an array of stories from around the world. Most recently, he spent several days reporting from the scene of the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. He also reported from Haiti on the devastating aftermath of the 2010 earthquake, including the rescue efforts and humanitarian aid. Previously, in November of 2009, he covered the Fort Hood, Texas, shootings and the ensuing investigation from the army base.

During the 2004 and 2012 political seasons, he covered the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Mr. Hemmer also covered the 2008 Presidential Election for the FNC. In the summer of 2008, he interviewed Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. Prior to this period, he was in London where he provided coverage of the British sailors’ hostage situation in Iran and, in 2006, he reported from a U.S. Marines Camp in Fallujah, Iraq. In 2005, he was in Baton Rouge reporting on the recovery efforts and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He also traveled to London in the summer of 2005 to cover the aftermath of the London terrorist attack.

For the past 10 years, Mr. Hemmer was an anchor and correspondent at CNN for American Morning, CNN Live Today, and CNN Tonight. In 2005, Mr. Hemmer reported from Rome and Vatican City on the death of Pope John Paul II.

In 2003, Mr. Hemmer traveled to Kuwait to report on the ongoing tensions with Iraq, and stayed on-site to cover Operation Iraqi Freedom when the war began. In 2002, he reported live from Jerusalem on the tension in the Middle East, and earlier was stationed at Ground Zero in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

A recipient of several awards and honors, including a 1996 Emmy Award, Mr. Hemmer began his career as a weekend sports anchor for WCPO-TV (CBS) in Cincinnati. He is a graduate of the Miami University of Ohio and is a native of Cincinnati.
