Dolores Baksh, Ph.D.

As director of research and development at Organogenesis Inc., Dr. Baksh leads a team of talented scientists actively working on a broad array of next generation platform technologies that show promise as advanced therapies. She also serves as the company’s tissue bank director and is responsible for all aspects of cell banking operations for commercial products.

Dr. Baksh has co-authored several patent applications related to novel techniques to successfully isolate a rich source of immune-privileged modulatory mesenchymal stem cells and other tissue engineering constructs. She has more than a decade of experience applying regenerative medicine strategies in biomaterials and stem cells for commercial applications.  She has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters.

Dr. Baksh completed her undergraduate and graduate training at the University of Toronto’s Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry and the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering.

Prior to joining Organogenesis, Dr. Baksh completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health where she studied the role of the Wnt signaling pathway in musculoskeletal tissue damage/repair mechanisms and its application to bone and cartilage tissue engineering strategies and worked in orthobiologics materials development for cartilage and orthopedic applications.
